Executive Committee
Baichuan Liu
Baichuan is a second year student reading Geography at St Anne’s College, University of Oxford. Baichuan have studied and lived in several cities around the world, ranging from Beijing, Cairo to Oxford. At Oxford, his interest lies in post-colonialism in the 21st century and Middle East geopolitics, namely the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Aside from his academic pursuit, Baichuan is passionate about exploring the world through the lens of photography, namely countries such as Israel and Iran.
Zhuoyu Shen
Ella Shen is a final year undergraduate from Pembroke College studying Mathematics and Philosophy. Prior to Oxford, she lived in Hangzhou and Singapore. She enjoys understanding how things work, which took her from contemplating the structure of reality to initiating discussions on modern feminism in OCF2019. She worked at a castle in the Czech Republic and two education startups to travel and connect with people. In her free time, she swims, runs, analyses movies and posts on Instagram.
Zhoudan Pan
Dan Pan is studying DPhil in Engineering Science at St Peter’s College. He specialises in mathematical
algorithms while also being familiar with photography, skiing instruction and cuisine. He has been the
official photographer for events in Oxford and London, invited to be the Zhihu Live Speaker and to the
TV shows such as
Chengkai Xie
Chengkai Xie is a first-year student reading Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Brasenose College. Born in Qingdao, the city’s rich history and vast ocean have brought him up with passion and ambition. Having lived in the UK for five years, Chengkai’s interests in politics motivate him to work in the frontline of politics, representing the voice of the UK-Chinese community. He is also a committee member of Oxford University Conservative Association (OUCA).
Yuqing Weng
Yuqing Weng is a second year student of History and Economics at St John’s college, Oxford. Before going to pursue higher study in the UK at the age of 18, she had spent her life in Shanghai. She is also a director of the religion panel in 2020 Oxford China Forum. She has a wide range of interests. On one day she performs Chinese zither on stage, on another she leads her college ultimate frisbee team in a field. Deep inside her, unchanging, is the care for humanity. She wants to become the bearer of history, the writer of stories, with the ability to empathize and harmonize.

Ge Wang
Ge Wang is a first year Dphil student in Computer Science at Jesus College, and her research interest is within HCAI (human-centered artificial intelligence), specifically on age appropriate algorithmic design. She is the panel director of Tech&Ethics this year, hoping to raise awareness and discuss the implications of big data for modern China.
Frida Shui
Frida Shui is currently pursuing an MSc degree in Social Science of the Internet at the Oxford Internet Institute, where she researches Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in sustainable IT outsourcing. This year, Frida serves as Panel Director on the Tech & Ethics Panel. She helps to facilitate a dynamic space for exploring ethical, social, and regulatory implications of emerging and cutting-edge technologies.
Yiqi Shi
Yiqi Shi is a first year undergraduate studying Physics and Philosophy at St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford. She is taking the role of panel director of the TechΦl panel at Oxford China Forum 2020 and hopes to contribute to a more dynamic and nuanced presentation of China in the UK, the place she had lived and studied in for years.

Zishi Yang
Zishi Yang, Bachelor of Arts from the University of Hong Kong, currently studying MPhil in Development Studies at St Antony’s College, Oxford. Panel director for international relations panel at OCF 2019, religion panel at OCF 2020. She pursues after the ideal of “unity in diversity”, curious about the unfamiliar. She’s committed to building bridges among various groups, to the fight against stereotypes and prejudices.
Theo Stapleton
Theo is a masters student in Contemporary China Studies at St Antony’s College. After doing exchange at Tsinghua and Peking University during his undergraduate degree in philosophy, Theo undertook an honours degree at the University of Western Australia focusing on the development of the Humanistic Buddhist movement. He is currently doing ethnographic research on a religious NGO in China.
Farren Yuan
Farren Yuan is a first year undergraduate studying History of Art at Lincoln College. Originally from Beijing, she came to the U.K. at age of 13, from which point the pronounced cultural difference between the two countries initiated her explorations in the art world on both sides, becoming highly engaged in readings, exhibitions, visits, collecting and writings. She has been a trilingual docent at the Robert Rauschenberg show at UCCA Beijing, and has assisted the curation of the exhibit ‘Fashioned from Nature’ at the V&A Museum in London. She likes looking and observing, learning languages, travelling, or strolling around in quiet city streets listening to Miles Davis. With particularly interested in issues around cultural translation and agency, the dynamics of interaction and exchange, she hopes to contribute to OCF Arts Panel in creating an advanced and appealing cultural platform.
Yaowen Deng
Yaowen Deng is the director of Diversity panel for OCF 2020. He is a first-year postgraduate student from Shenzhen, China and is now reading an MPhil in Development Studies at St Edmund Hall sponsored by the Clarendon Fund Scholarship. Before coming to Oxford, Yaowen studied philosophy at Nanjing University, primarily researching ancient Chinese philosophy and critical theory. Yaowen has also studied at the University of Pennsylvania as an exchange student, where he fell in love with sociology and ethnographic methods. Outside of academia, he has been engaging upon LGBTQ+ rights and gender equality issues in China since his sophomore year, which along with his continuous self-reflection shaped his commitment to China’s inclusive development. He endeavors to narrate alternative discourse on China’s LGBTQ+ issues through OCF and looks forward to learning from diverse voices of the Chinese queer community.
Xiao Li
Xiao Li is an MBA candidate of Sad Business School, University of Oxford. He has a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree of Chemical Engineering. He joined Chinese General Nuclear Power Corporate (CGN, the largest clean energy group in China) and participated in developing the world’s largest uranium mine – Husab Mine during 2013 and 2018 in Africa. He spent one year in South Africa and four years in Namibia, managing the engineering, construction, and operation ramp-up of Husab mine, largely contributing to the success of this project. He gained substantial experience in multicultural management and Chinese company international business expansion.
Zheyi Cao
Zheyi Cao is a 2nd year DPhil student in clinical medicine from the Nuffield Department of Medicine. He is a student of Somerville College. He graduated from Zhiyuan College of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and did one-year internship at Yale University researching on Dengue Virus infection. His research is focusing on the immune system alteration during the acute HIV infection. Apart from research study, he likes to watch movies and go travelling. He loves to make new friends. This year as a Biomedical and Healthcare Panel Director, he wishes to bring some valuable insights for the audience in current problems and future development of Chinese biomedical research and healthcare system.
Mitchell Wan
Mitchell Wan is a third year visiting student at the University of Oxford studying medicine at St. Anne’s College. He is the Panel Director for the Healthcare panel, and he hopes to use this opportunity to spread awareness regarding the development and quality of healthcare and biomedical research in China. He is from California, US, and studied at Fudan University Medical School in Shanghai. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, playing the violin, and working out in the gym.
Harry Liang
Harry Liang is a first-year Fine Art student from Brasenose College, at the University of Oxford, majoring in Film and Video Art production. He was born and raised in Guangzhou, China, and finished high school in New Zealand. With a deep passion for films, he, except working as an independent filmmaker with 5 well-developed short films, also worked as a director assistant intern at Guangdong Radio and Television Station. In 2020 OCF, he will be the panel director for film panel and the head of the art festival team. He promised to provide our audiences with a diverse and profound perspective to understand Chinese film while presenting the beauty of Chinese culture on the stage of Oxford. In his spare time, he falls in love with different kinds of sports such as football, snooker, and badminton.
Yuqing Long
I am Yuqing Long, currently a Master student reading Statistics in the Jesus College. I am one of the panel directors for the OCF2020 education panel. I have run an education start-up a few years ago, and I am intrigued by K12 education in general. Through my experience in running the business and teaching, I realized the inefficiency and compromises that traditional education and online education have to make. I want to advocate and participate, through OCF 2020, in the discussion of education reform and AI’s role in future education. In my spare time, I enjoy playing badminton, EDM and video games. ?
Shiyao Zhang
I am Shiyao, doing my master degree in human rights and humanitarian actions at Sciences po, Paris. I used to work as a mentor for a social enterprise aiming at cultivate next generation of Chinese Global Citizens. I had worked in various African countries and launched projects on women empowerment and wildlife protections with my students. I have seen the growth of young Chinese generation and also thinking about what kind of next generation should we cultivate. It’s my great honor to be one of the panel director on education and looking forward to discussing this topic with experts.
Yifei Chen
Yifei is a first year PPE student at Trinity College, Oxford. Born in a rural village just south of the Yangtze river, he studied in Shanghai, Liverpool and Birmingham before coming to Oxford. Academically, Yifei is particularly interested in the implications of rapid rural development in China and Chinese-Western comparative philosophy. Taking on the role of Event Director for OCF 2020, he hopes that OCF provides a platform for intellectual discussions concerning much neglected areas in Chinese studies. Outside of academia, Yifei enjoys playing badminton, scuba diving, and reading, preferably with some Taiwanese math rock on in the background.
Qifeng He
I am Qifeng He (Henry), taking on the role of an Event Director. I am a first-year PPE student interested in reading, travelling, contemplating about pretty much everything and more. Two main reasons motivated me to join OCF. First, OCF and its Individual Event program will allow us to establish potentially the first ever China-focused student academic society in University of Oxford. It will provide great opportunities for students and academics to gain deeper insights and understanding into China as well as providing them with a networking and communication platform. Secondly, having studied abroad for years, I have long wanted to present to the world a more accurate and authentic image of China and I strongly believe that with the help of platforms such as OCF and my excellent colleagues who share similar ambitions, we will be able to achieve this goal together.
Jiayao Lu
Jiayao Lu is a second year Earth Scientist at St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford. She cares about people and earth and hopes to see more of the world. In her spare times she likes to play guitar and tennis and take portraits of her Jellycat toys. Her favourite authors are Haizi and Márquez.
Caixuan Ji
Caixuan is a first-year doctoral student in Area Studies (China) at Wolfson College, University of Oxford. She is the Event Director for Oxford China Forum’s Term Calendar Seminars. Caixuan was born in Shanghai and grew up in Auckland, New Zealand. Prior to her DPhil study, she received her BSc in Global China Studies at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and MSc in Contemporary China Studies at University of Oxford. She has also had exchange and research experiences at Peking University and University of Sussex. Caixuan’s current research project examines the significance of China-Australia relations in Chinese grand strategy through the prism of geopolitics. As a Chinese with rich experiences abroad, Caixuan aspires to bring China in a better light to world intellectuals, thereby fostering understanding between the East and the West.
Xuan Li
My name is Xuan Li. I am currently an event director at OCF. Growing up as a pianist, I have always hoped to bring the joy of music to other people. As China grows its international impact, presenting our music is a miraculous way to introduce the Chinese culture. At OCF, serious topics and issues across different areas have been discussed from international views. It is indeed a great stage to perform cultural interaction across nations through music as well.
Niuniu Zhao
Niuniu is a second year. She reads Politics, Philosophy and Economics in New College, Oxford. Gorwing up in southern China, and living briefly in North America before moving to Oxford, she has always loved nit-picking on words, and immersing in penchant for unreal things. She spends a lot of time in school jounral and poetry societies, sometimes doing backstage work for parties and conferences. In her spare time, she likes to wander around by herself. Can't live a life without sunshine, coffee and cats.
Ally
Ally is a second year DPhil student at Merton College. She studies transmembrane proteins computationally with molecular dynamics. This is the third year that she works with OCF. In her spare time, she enjoys writing, cooking and swimming. She runs a personal blog on WeChat (ID: weoxonians) documenting her life in Oxford.
Kristina Zhang
Kristina Zhang is currently a Film and Television student/course representative in University of the Arts London, who is passionate about all forms of art. Although her hometown is Beijing, but she moved to Berlin to pursue a film education three years ago and then transferred to London for the same purpose. Kristina is ambitious about entrepreneurship and finds business and management fascinating; consequently she ventured into the business world by establishing her own cosmetic start-up. In OCF, she is hoping to help the committee to display the best of the forum by improving the media platforms and logos, while taking this opportunity to expand her horizons and knowledge on art, film and business. Zoe Fujiwara
Zoe is a second-year student reading Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at St Catherine’s College. She is a logistics officer, having enjoyed undertaking the same role for the previous year’s forum. She was born and raised in Hong Kong, but attended school in England since 2013. You can often find her organising other events, yet in her spare time she enjoys badminton and baking. She hopes OCF will allow people from various backgrounds to gain a greater understanding of the multi-faceted culture and background of China.
Kasper Myhre
I’m Kasper, a Norwegian second year PPEist at St Catz and a Logistics Officer for OCF2020. My motivation for joining OCF stems from the realization that I know unforgivingly little about a country that is becoming an increasingly important part of the international arena. By partaking in OCF I hope to learn more about China – about its history, culture and values. I also hope to help spread awareness of China to other students here at Oxford as well. I appreciate the serenity found in the outdoors, and you will regularly find me climbing mountains outside of term time.
Yifan Zhao
Yifan is a first year undergraduate student from St. Anne’s College, University of Oxford. She is the logistic officer of OCF 2020. Being a Philosophy, Politics and Economics student, she is passionate about presenting China’s economic and social development in this global academic environment of Oxford. She wishes to meet more like-minded friends and gain a deeper insight on China-specific development issues by being part of the OCF team.
Jimmy Shi
Jimmy Shi is a first-year Geography student at St John’s College. Originally from Beijing, he moved to the UK at the age of seven and immediately developed a passion for Geography, reading books and magazines in addition to traveling around the world. Having experienced two very different cultures, he has developed a keen interest in understanding the cultural differences between nations. Outside of academics, he frequently participates in volunteering at charity organizations in the UK and has a keen interest in basketball and football.
Yizhuo Wang
Yizhuo Wang is a first year Economics & Management student at Hertford College. She is also the sponsorship officer of Oxford China Forum. Growing up experiencing different education system and eventually come here to Oxford, she is keenly aware about the society around and is determined to make a change. Participated in various social activities related to community service and public events in high school, Yizhuo will continue her passion in social activities at OCF. In her spare time, she likes baking and playing badminton.
David Ni
David (Zixuan) Ni is a second-year undergraduate reading Economics and Management at Jesus. He is extremely passionate about the economy and cross-border commerce, having grown up in Shanghai and New Jersey, and now living in Munich. Aside from being the sponsorship officer for Oxford China Forum, David serves as Vice President at Oxford Alpha Fund and a Director at Oxford Strategy Group. In his spare time, he plays Saxophone, tennis, and poker.
Qinxuan Yang
Qinxuan Yang is a second year student of materials science from St. Anne's college. Although she does not background in liberal arts, she appreciates the orientation and atmosphere of OCF and enjoys her participation in it. She is also the Charity Officer of OUCS and EShine. She is interested in biotech, and concerned about charity and mental health. Her hobbies include folklore, gitar and sports.
Ying Zhang
Ying Zhang is learning International hospitality, tourism and events management at Oxford Brookes University. She was born in Dongying, Shandong, the estuary of the Yellow River, which is a vast alluvial plain famous for the oil industry. She likes communicating with people and learns deeply about true hospitality, the brand culture of IHG after she joined VOCO.
